Zambia: Barotse Indunas Seek Meeting With Sata
The Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has challenged President Michael Sata to convene a round table meeting at State House to conclusively settle their dispute on the Barotseland Agreement of 1964. Acting Ngambela Induna Kalonga and Induna Sisi has said there is need to table and address the BRE disputes adequately and put matters to rest. The Indunas said government still owed them an obligation to deal with their concerns exhaustively and demanded a round table meeting with President Michael Sata. This was made when finance minister Alexander Chikwanda paid a courtesy call on the Litunga in Mongu. The Indunas were concerned that they have been insulted and accused of being bribed by government to keep them quite as a way of abandoning their cause.
"We have been insulted that we have been paid to keep us shut but it is not true. We are sacrificing our little resources to keep cordial relation with central government. There is need to open door of State House to begin round table discussions to bring these issues to a logical conclusion," a representative of the indunas said.
