Tanzania: Ten die after drinking local brew
APA-Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) - At least ten people have died in Tanzania after drinking locally brewed alcohol believed to be contaminated, according to police in the capital Dar es Salaam.
Police commander Razalo Mambosasa told journalists in the city on Thursday that nine of the drinkers had died on the spot.
The other died several hours later.
Commander Mambosasa said the police had received a report from a 38-year-old man around 4:00am on Wednesday that his relative identified as Maleo Ramadhani (45) died after drinking the local brew.
He said the alcohol has since been taken to a chemistry laboratory for analysis.
